Cosmopink at Lodi Memorial’s Walk/Run for the Health of It!

We had such a good time getting the crowd warmed up for the Walk/ Run this year! Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Hospital. This year in addition to the walk, there was also a timed 5K and 10K run! To Replenish walkers and runners afterward there was a Health Fair that included gourmet healthy bites from the Sacramento Culinary Arts at the Art Institute of California.

If you were there, you know how good the food was! If you weren’t you definitely need to come check it out next year! Along with healthy tasty treats we had other vendors that provided information on Body Fat Testing, Blood Pressure monitoring, Massage Therapists and Booths on Stress Management.

For those of you who haven’t ever been out to the Walk for the health of it – it has something for everyone. The event started out 21 years ago as strictly an event just for walkers and has evolved to include, a poker walk for fun, wheel chair strolls, dog walkers, kids 1 mile fun run, and now officially timed 5K and 10K Runs for the more competitive athletes in the community!

My friends and I who hosted the warm up got the opportunity to run through the crowd cheering everyone on, and even make a few new friends. There was a special little girl that we found toward the end of the race who was just about to give up and we were able to cheer her on and run her all the way to the finish line! It was awesome!!!!!! I hope next year we see more of our community out there!

Saturday May 7th 2011 I will be providing the warm up for the 2011 Walk/Run for the Health of it!

This years events include:

5K FITNESS WALK (non-competitive) for those of you who want to just get out there and set your own pace. Open to Men, Women and Children of all ages.

5K POKER WALK – Game, collecting your hand at various stations.

CHIP TIMED 5K WALK & 5K & 10K RUN – Chip timed for accuracy for all competitive walkers and runners.

1 MILE WALK AND ROLL – (non-competitive) fun walk is open to all ages and abilities including those pushing strollers and wheel chairs.

1 MILE FUN RUN – For Students

Replenish your body and Mind their will be a Health Fair after the Walk/ Run that includes Food and refreshments from the chefs at the Art Institute of California – Sacramento ( that are supposed to be healthy) and other local businesses that support the health and wellness industry. Every registered participant will receive a t-shirt and for the timed racers awards will be presented. Come out for some fitness and fun!

Lodi Street Fair!

Thank you to all of you who came out to see us at the Lodi Street Fair this October! I want to congratulate Kelly who is a former client who not only dropped 8lbs with our 10 days to a Better Body Program but continued on to lose another 30! Keep up the good work girlie! It was great to see you!

I also want to give a warm welcome to Abigail and Doug! I am looking forward to working with you both in this upcoming month and seeing your upcoming success stories!

Pink October coordinates an annual series of events that are held in our local communities to help women who are struggling to survive the physical and financial battle of breast cancer. All donations and proceeds from the events go directly to Geweke’s Caring For Women Foundation, that reaches out and identifies who these women are, and helps with their every day living expenses; from PG&E bills to doctors appointments. One thing I have learned is that hard times can fall on anyone, people are perfectly healthy one minute and diagnosed with a terminal disease the next. That really makes me appreciate all the blessings in my life, and realize just how precious and short life is. I would like to personally show my support for this great foundation by donating 1 Free Month of Personal Training. Ladies Night Out provides a fun and relaxed “common ground” for women to get to know other women they don’t neccesarily associate with on a day to day basis. Its a great way to meet new friends or share laughs with old ones.
They meet every 2nd Friday of the month at different coffee shops and restaurants throughout the Lodi area. This months focus topic is Stress Relief, I think we could all use some of that!
Women are multi taskers and tend to be the organizers and care givers for many, between juggling work, family, household responsibilities and playdates it’s no wonder that by the end of the day we feel a bit FRAZZLED!
At Ladies Night Out I will be speaking about How to REDUCE your stress levels through excercise and good nutrition and teach you a stress relief workout you can do anywhere.

Holiday Toy Drive Training Special 2008!!!!

This Christmas a local non profit organization called Building Blocks is hosting its annual Toy Drive for 400 local lodi families. They started over seven years ago with only 30 families and are now actively helping over 600 registered families with food, clothing, toys, educational camps and programs. I am donating a free half hour training session to everyone who donates a toy to the drive!!!! Just think, you can help yourself get fit and help a child in need! Pretty Awesome! There will be a sign in sheet where you can write your name, the toy you donated and phone number behind the front desk – so that I can contact you to set up your free appointment.
The Toy Drive ends on December 20th so all donations will need to be made by then. All toys donated should be left unwrapped so they can be packaged appropriately for each individual and family. Things like little fleece blankets, books, dolls, stuffed animals, games are all appreciated. The age ranges of children are from Infant 18yrs. For larger donations or questions contact Kathy Mc Clellan owner and founder at 209-747-1219. Please join with me and Fitness System to help our local community have a Happy Healthy Holiday this Season.

Chances are you know of or know someone directly who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, this isn’t suprising since there were 182,460 new cases in 2008 alone as cited by the National Cancer Institute. The good news is that because of advances in medicine there are also more survivors now then ever!
The Geweke Caring for Women Foundation sponcers The 5k Run Walk Race for Awareness here in Lodi and Yuba City. Registration is only $10 and you can sign up online at Active.com All the proceeds go to honor the families, friends and survivors of those affected by breast cancer. Race Day is October 18th!
