A New Year And A New Reflection

The end of the year always brings about new resolutions with us all and for many getting physically fit reigns at the top of the list along with laying off the sweets and eating a more well balanced diet. All of the fitness goals I just listed our external and help our physical being, but what about our spiritual fitness? Being spiritually fit is directly linked to being physically fit and is on my own list of resolutions this year in my quest toward total fitness.

As a trainer I work with a diverse group of people who have walked down many different roads to get where they are today but the one thing they all seem to have in common is that their struggle with physical fitness stemmed from something that happened to their spirit. Whatever that something was left them feeling unworthy, unappreciated and in turn unable to give or receive appreciation to themselves or others. I truly want to focus on total fitness this year not just the physical. So instead of making a snap resolution to just do something and give up on it a month later I want us to sit and reflect. Find a quiet place and write yourself a letter that you are going to read a year from now. Visualize and list out what you want to bring into your life this year and make sure to honor your achievements of the year that has just passed. Reflect on who you are and why – often it takes a change on the inside, a new way of thinking to bring about the changes you want to see on the outside. A friend of mine always says, “Beauty is only skin deep but ugly goes all the way to the bone”. Let your inner beauty shine through this year and smile when you see your reflection!

Help Ease Stubborn Joint Pain with Hyaluronic Acid

Old age, repetitive movement, and genetic predispositions towards arthritis are all things that can cause severe joint pain and damage. I first heard about Hyaluronic Acid from one of my clients who had a lot of scar tissue and loss of cartilage in his knees from working for years under cars and doing tape and texture work – a lot of repetitive movement and stress on the knees. Before using the Hyaluronic Acid my clients knee joints would grind so bad that you could literally hear it – after just couple applications the grinding went away completely along with the pain!
Synovial_joints.jpg
Hyaluronic Acid is good for both your skin and joints. It is found and extracted from Cocks Comb ( that is the thing on top of a roosters head ) It is a key component in cartilage itself and is also found in Synovial Joint Fluid. Your joints are surrounded by a membrane called the synovial membrane and inside the membrane itself is the synovial joint fluid. This fluid acts not only as a lubricant for the joint cavities but a shock absorber as well. So if your body is depleted of this fluid or of cartilage itself it would only make sense to replenish it right? Did you know that our bodies are actually made up of different kinds of cartilage? The most abundant type of cartilage in our bodies is called Hyaline Cartilage. Hyaline Cartilage is what allows our bodies to move with flexibility and gives our joints support and strength. Our Cartilage is fed nutrients from the synovial joint fluid surrounding it, diseases like osteo arthritis depletes our Synovial Joint Fluid stores and the result is a further depletion in cartilage stores. So the next time those joints start giving you trouble instead of reaching for the Motrin go down to the local health food store and pick up some Hyaluronic Acid. It comes as a topical cream and as an oral supplement.

Holiday Toy Drive Training Special 2008!!!!

2006_kylie_xmas_300.jpg
This Christmas a local non profit organization called Building Blocks is hosting its annual Toy Drive for 400 local lodi families. They started over seven years ago with only 30 families and are now actively helping over 600 registered families with food, clothing, toys, educational camps and programs. I am donating a free half hour training session to everyone who donates a toy to the drive!!!! Just think, you can help yourself get fit and help a child in need! Pretty Awesome! There will be a sign in sheet where you can write your name, the toy you donated and phone number behind the front desk – so that I can contact you to set up your free appointment.
The Toy Drive ends on December 20th so all donations will need to be made by then. All toys donated should be left unwrapped so they can be packaged appropriately for each individual and family. Things like little fleece blankets, books, dolls, stuffed animals, games are all appreciated. The age ranges of children are from Infant 18yrs. For larger donations or questions contact Kathy Mc Clellan owner and founder at 209-747-1219. Please join with me and Fitness System to help our local community have a Happy Healthy Holiday this Season.
From our House to Yours,
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
