Love Yourself Lean

Everyone has their moments of weakness when they stray off of their diet -
When this happens you have a couple of choices:

A. Beat yourself up with negative self talk you deserve it right?
B. Just keep eating crap its making you feel better right now, even though it won't tomarrow.
C. Take a look inside yourself and find out why?

I have done A and B, neither have worked for me long term - So I vote for option C and would recommend it to you too. Identify the underlying problem, understand and learn from it, ask yourself why? - Then vow not to let that thing or way of thinking sabotage you again! It takes practice and hard work and even when you tackle that, something else may come up! But I have found that loving yourself and praising yourself for taking the conscious steps toward your goals of a fitter body and using that as motivation works better for me.

Learning To Run Article #3

Sweet Nothings! No Guilt Required!

prod-sugar-free-desserts.jpg

With winter and the holidays gone so with it are the sweets and treats thank god! Cleaning up my own diet for this summer I wanted something different so I have been cruising the isles at the super market to see what could be done! I found Sugar Free Jell-O to be my new favorite dessert; you can do so much with it! It comes in a variety of flavors and there is only 10 calories per serving! The whole box has 8 servings total - so even if I do eat half the box I am still only consuming 40 Calories! Not only does it taste good but its diabetic friendly too – Delicious doesn’t have to be bad!

For those times when I absolutely must have something chocolate - the Sugar Free Choc Pudding from Jell-O is awesome. Not only does it taste like the regular stuff, it is also no cooking required - You Make It with Cold Fat Free Milk! It literally sets up in the fridge in 5 minutes!!! Still only 80 calories per serving and with the milk you get some protein too! Top it with 1 tablespoon of Cool Whip Lite - 10 calories. They also make this in cheese cake, banana cream…. Are you seeing the possibilities?

Do Something Good For the Planet

earth _ cosmopinkstyle_800_.jpg

In honor of Earth Day on April 22nd honor the planet with these earth friendly gestures:

1. The next time you are going out for that Mocha or cup of joe - take your own mug not only does it cut down on the waste from the disposable containers, at some coffee houses like Starbucks you may even get a discount!

2. Instead of driving your kids to the park - Walk!! You can get fit and help save the Planet - Makes you feel like Super Woman doesn't it?

3. Go to the nursrey and plant a new tree in your yard - or volunteer to plant one at a local park - Two full grown tress can supply roughly 260 lbs of Oxygen - that is enough to supply the Oxygen needs of One Person Per Year!

Letters From Boot Camp April 2007

cosmopink_camp.jpg

The girls survived the first day of camp on April 7th and did remarkably well. We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather! Nothing but cool crisp air and blue skies! For all the running we did everyone did awesome, I think the bleachers were definitely challenging even for these ultra fit women! The women at this year’s camp are definitely not beginners. Jeri is an outdoor cyclist and former client of mine, Diane is a runner and current client, Luisa is a kick ass spin instructor over at Fitness Systems, and Carolyn is an outdoor cyclist so getting these girls sore is hard work! - But we did it! Overall our only hiccup was when my little boom box couldn't take the outdoor abuse and refused to play - but we are back in the saddle with a new outdoor rated radio made by DeWalt!

The main goal of the camp is to help these fit women achieve more than they thought they could to begin with. The drills change weekly so they are constantly challenged, but I am leaving certain components in that the women will be scored on in the end for most overall improvement. Things like push ups, pull ups, timed miles and attitude are some of the things they are scored on weekly. For the most improved athlete at the end we have teamed up with Jed Green of our local Max Muscle and the winner will receive a $100 Max Muscle Gift Certificate! Thanks Jed!

Good Job Ladies! See you this Week!

Healthy Food Fast and Cheap!

Okay so I was go through my magazines catching up on some reading when I saw an advertisement for a chicken breast that is pre - cooked and ready to serve in a pouch! I beleive it was a StarKist add, they are also a major tuna distributer for the pre packgaged chunk light tuna that comes in the pouch. This is a great fast and cheap source of protein and something you can pack up quickly on days when your pressed for time. I opt for the tuna in water instead of oil its lower in calories and fat and better for you. The only thing with the tuna is that it is higher in sodium because it comes in that convenient little package, so sodium sensitive individuals might not want to eat this all the time - but once in a while should be fine. The other great thing is you can find some tasty recipes on the back that don't involve mayo! Pair it up with a salad and some fruit, or plain with a couple of whole wheat crackers and you have a quick cheap healthy snack! Check out www.starkist.com for more helpful tips.
