About Me

Well I have debated long enough and finally decided to add a little about myself into this site which is a constant work in progress – much like myself! I am a personal trainer and a very lucky one at that because I am blessed with some of the greatest clients out there who are fun to work with and make my job very fufilling. In addition to being a personal trainer I am also a mommy to a beautiful little girl who is three and a half and the light of my life. One of the reasons I chose this profession other than the fact that I absolutely love to help people reach their dreams and goals was that it allowed me the flexibility in my schedule to spend more time with my husband and little girl.
Everyone has certain things in their life that they determine as mile stones or markers if you will of things they would like to do or accomplish before they hit a certain point in time that will give them a sense achievement. For me one of those things was to run a marathon which I did do in January of this year! I didn’t qualify for Boston but I ran it damn it! 5hrs and 3 minutes whew that was the longest run of my life!
Anyhow there was one thing that I really wanted to do even before I decided to run the marathon and that was compete in either a body building or figure competition. From the first time I held a weight in my hand I knew it was something I had to do – That was about eight years ago. After I had my daughter I definitely had my doubts since I managed to gain a whole 60lbs during my pregnancy! Can you say “oink”? The other shocker was that it didn’t just fall off the day after I gave birth! That whole thing about the weight falling off – that has got to be the biggest crock of you know what I have ever heard! So back in the gym again and having a body now that is better than it has ever been even before baby I finally have the confidence to get up there and do it!
So I am currently four weeks out from the show only one month left! I have been so blessed to have the support of my trainer, friends and family and clients in the gym who are keeping me positive and focused – Thanks you guys you don’t have any idea how much your support and reassurance means to me. ~ Melissa

If you do things the way they’ve always been done, you will get what you’ ve always got” John Wilmot

This is such a powerful quote and I try to share it with as many people as possible because I really identify with it. Take the gym for example; the same people come in day after day week after week and don’t really seem to make any progress. Now there are a variety of reasons why this happens but usually number one is they are doing the same thing day in and day out and the wrong way. But why stop at the gym? Couldn’t this be applied to just about any area of life your life that isn’t producing the results you wants? Keep a goal and every day do at least one thing that will help get you there . All of these little steps add up and before you know it you will have accomplished that goal and begin again the process for the next one. What are your goals? Figure them out make your map and stay on course – be passionate, persistant and patient. You will get there!

Oatmeal Two Tasty Ways

Here are a few ways to make Oatmeal something to look forward to in the morning. I have been asked several times by clients and others how to make it and what to put in it so here it is,
1/2 Cup Dry Oats
1/2 Cup to 3/4 Cups Water
3 Fresh or Frozen Strawberries
1 Packet of Spenda or no calorie sweetener of your choice
Put all ingredients in microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for about 1 minute – time will vary depending on your microwave. Remove and mix it all up the berries should be soft and bubbly. Eat up! Sometimes I will sub the strawberries for blue or black berries with these the measurement is 1/3 cup.
For those of you allergic to or just don’t like it fruity you can use
1/2 Cup Oats
1/2 -3/4 Cup Water
1tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1 Packet of No Calorie sweetner and get the Oatmeal Cookie effect
